CRIME SIMULATORPLAY

Multiplayer, invites, and online fix

You can play alone or with up to three friends online. A fifth person does not fit the cap the store page states. There is no split-screen mode in the descriptions I read.

The cap

The store text says solo or 4-player co-op, and the story blurb says up to three friends. Ultimate Publishing repeats co-op without split-screen. IsCrossplay also says there is no split-screen and that invites use the platform friend list or a lobby code. Four is the number I will defend. Five is over that cap, so a fifth friend is not a documented spectator slot either. I am not inventing a spectate feature to answer that question.

What people mean by online fix

Search results for online fix land on third-party multiplayer patches filed next to cheats. Those tools advertise lobby workarounds and, in related projects, DLC unlocking. They are not a CookieDev feature. Official co-op uses Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox networking. This site does not host the patch, the bypass, or a how-to.

Cross-platform play is a different question and has its own page. The short version: developer Raintek rules out PC-console crossplay, also reported by IsCrossplay. PS5-Xbox and shared progress remain IsCrossplay-only. For Steam Ashen Creek co-op, a separate CookieDev reply says only the host needs the DLC.

Questions

How do invites work after 1.35?

The 4 February 2026 news post says you open a lobby from the main menu, invite platform friends or set the lobby public, and then enter the hideout together. A lobby browser lists public sessions.

Does difficulty change with headcount?

IsCrossplay says mission difficulty scales with the group. That sentence is only on that site.
