Sleep gas: vents, alarms, quiet doors

The store page says you pump sleeping gas through air vents and the building goes quiet. A smoke alarm can undo that plan.

What the store page claims

Sleeping gas is the hands-off tool in the kit paragraph, next to lockpicks and the crossbow. The promise is a whole building down without a sound. It does not say the gas ignores alarms, dogs, or police already on the street. I am not extending it.

The alarm trap

Read the house on the truck computer. If an alarm is listed, either skip the gas or disable the alarm with the tools in that thread. A long press is the quiet way to use a door afterward. Yoshitomi's notes agree that a tap is the noisy interaction. Gas does not replace that habit once people are down and you still have to open things.

Range, how long they stay down, and whether a dog sleeps through it are blank. One answer post is not enough for those numbers, and no second source printed them.

Questions

Why did gas bring the police?

A Steam thread marked as answered says pumping gas in a building with a smoke alarm sets that alarm off.

How do I kill the alarm first?

The same thread lists a hacking device, the crossbow, or basic electronics used by hand. The truck computer can tell you the alarm is there before you leave the vehicle.
